It’s that time again. You feel agitated, irritated with others, feel like your life is not going anywhere and you know energy has drained out.

So, infuse some positivity in your life to get back on track.

Following are some simple things which help. I admit these are tips I found online, hence can’t take credit but I have tried and found them working.

1. Declutter the house. It may not be possible to clean or declutter the whole house in one go, but at least start with a corner. The process itself worked wonders to clear my mind in addition to having a clean space at the end of it.

2. Open the windows and let the light in. I am unable to open the windows to air the house, but as I open the shades and let the light in, I must say some light fell on my mind too.

3. Light a lamp. Definitely the effect is different from switching on a light.

But those of you who light a lamp, if you simply be there around it, you will notice it makes a difference. You don’t need to believe in any God. It need not even be dark, the lamp need not be a visual aid, but do you notice it makes some kind of a difference? This is because the moment you light a lamp, not the flame itself but around the flame a certain etheric sphere will naturally happen.”

4. Detox your body. In addition to the health benefits like lowering BP, sugar, improving cardiac health etc, it also makes you more energetic. And be sure, improvements are on the way!

5. Meditate. A sure-shot means of detoxing the mind infusing positivity! Relaxed and stress-free, you are capable to take on the world!

Impressions

Impression

It’s all that I was worried about,

My only thought above all,

All efforts on my appearance,

The impression I make, the praise I get.

Confident, beautiful and intelligent,

Complements I received galore,

Oh, why then I felt so empty?

Lonely, meaningless and forlorn.

It took time and heart breaks,

Oh! Impressions are much more,

Not just superficial but character,

Who and what I am leaves lasting impressions.

Control?

Bosses may think they control all those working under them. Mothers may think they control their children. How many do realize it takes just the blink of an eye for things to go out of control.

One example: Take a look at the emergency of a trauma center (or any hospital for that matter), I am sure it will be an eye opening experience for all. One minute you are racing down the highway, the next you scream in pain, unable to move your legs or worse! I see these patients in the emergency and I think about the pedestrians who cross the road even while the light is red, the drivers who try to save a minute of two by jumping a red light, speedsters who get their thrill at no less than a 100km, pedestrians walking /crossing the road while on the phone…. When will one understand that most of the things in our own life are not in our control?

Does that mean there is absolutely nothing that we can control?

What about our own self?  Control over our thoughts, emotions and actions!

“First learn to know yourself perfectly and then to control yourself perfectly. You will be able to do it by aspiring every moment. It is too never early to begin, never too late to continue.”

Control

Unmoored

Unmoored

A boat adrift, unmoored and losing sight

Of shore, its anchor and support,

Waves moving it further from light,

Just as I am, with no course or port.

Days turn to months and year,

I go about my daily chores and wear,

And see no charm and luster anywhere,

Oh how unmoored I am, amidst the cheer.

Pursue it – adamantly

Pursue

“Ever tried, ever failed. No matter. Try again, fail again, fail better”                                                                                                  Samuel Beckett.

I reimagesmember reading the story of Thomas Edison while he was trying to invent the light bulb. He made a bulb without success. He again attempted, failed miserably. He kept at it for 999 times without any success. But he pursued in his efforts. And voila! 1000th attempt was a viable light bulb, a common place object which we now take for granted!

Had he not pursued his efforts… had he given up thinking he was no good…had he changed his focus and tried to do something else…

Who knows how the course of history would have changed?

“Our greatest glory is not in never failing but in rising everytime we fail”                                                                                                                    Confucius

Thomas Edison is not the only one. There are thousands of stories of people who pursued, who kept going against all odds and finally achieved what they aimed at. Abraham Lincoln, Sigmund Freud, Albert Einstein, Walt Disney, Van Gogh, J.K Rowling.. Success came to them after so much time and troubles only because they did not give up.

The take away:

Work on something you love and pursue it adamantly.

“Everyone of you should have an aim. But do not forget that on the quality of your aim will depend the quality of your life. Your aim should be high and wide, generous and disinterested; this will make your life precious to yourself and to others.”                                                                                                             The Mother
